Lyme Disease

Here is some news that makes us uneasy. According to the CDC the ticks that cause Lyme disease are now found in half of all U.S. counties across 43 states. This is a 45 percent increase in the distribution of the ticks since the last survey done in 1998.

Lyme disease is the most common illness spread by ticks and there are about 30,000 new cases a year. The onset is characterized by a red rash around the site of the tick bite. The disease can be chronic and the symptoms can be debilitating.

Be cautious when walking through the woods or through fields of deep grass.
